If INITIAL = NO, Abaqus/Standard assumes that the initial accelerations for the current step are zero if the current step is the first DYNAMIC step. If the immediately preceding step was also a DYNAMIC step, using INITIAL = NO causes Abaqus/Standard to use the accelerations from the end of the previous step to continue the new step.
Explicit dynamics analysis: this is the method used by Abaqus/Explicit Direct-solution steady-state harmonic response analysis: As name implies, it can be used to find steady-state harmonic response of a system. The method of choice when frequency-dependent effects (such as damping, or other model parameters) should be captured
Click the arrow to the right of the Scale element mass field, and select how you want Abaqus/Explicit to apply that target time increment: Select Uniformly to satisfy target to scale the masses of the elements equally so that the smallest element stable time increment of the scaled elements equals the target value.
In Abaqus/Explicit a small amount of damping is introduced in the form of bulk viscosity to control high frequency oscillations. Physical forms of damping, such as dashpots or material damping, can also be introduced. Bulk viscosity and material damping are discussed below. Estimating the stable time increment size
The explicit dynamics analysis procedure in Abaqus/Explicit is based upon the implementation of an explicit integration rule together with the use of diagonal or “lumped” element mass matrices. The equations of motion for the body are integrated …
Explicit dynamics is a mathematical technique for integrating the equations of motion through time. – The explicit dynamic integration method is also known ...
ABAQUS/Explicit uses the central-difference operator. In an implicit dynamic analysis the integration operator matrix must be inverted and a set of ...
In an analysis Abaqus/Explicit initially uses a stability limit based on the highest element frequency in the whole model. This element-by-element estimate is ...
•Advantages of ABAQUS/Explicit –The advantages of ABAQUS/Explicit are: •It has been designed to solve highly discontinuous, high-speed dynamic problems efficiently. •It has a very robust contact algorithm that does not add additional degrees of freedom to the model.
