Photo is equally as powerful and feel like that has the closer relationship to its Adobe counterpart. I purchased these for personal use. The hard thing is literally just this week work supplied me with the whole Creative Cloud package just for the use of InDeisgn (we have a number of full packages that are shared amongst the company).
Creative cloud always bugs out and I am having to constantly clear user and system cache when trying to update and/or download apps. No other program on my Mac reliably sucks like Adobe. Not to mention accidentally hitting a few keys and having settings change to a foreign land.
You can always replace an iPad with a notepad, but some options will be missing :-) I personally find the 2D motion graphics / animation alternatives more for hobbyists than for professionals. I haven't seen apps that could replace AfterEffects motion graphics or 2D character rigged animation projects, especially given the vibrant AE script ...
Thankfully for cash-strapped creatives, there are some brilliant free alternatives to Creative Cloud's key apps - some so similar to their Adobe counterparts there's virtually no learning curve. Free, convenient and powerful, LightZone is the best free alternative to Adobe Lightroom.
