Adobe isn't expensive if you're using it as a professional, especially considering you can write off the expense. If you're a hobbyist then I recommend either using a free option or accepting that $8/mo for professional grade software is a freaking steal.

If you are looking for simpler alternatives to Adobe Premiere and with quality transitions, I would recommend you some video editors: AVS video editor, Sony Vegas Pro, Corel VideoStudio, ApowerEdit, Movie Maker. They have lots of templates, effects or wow factors for you to make your video fantastic and professional. You may add music too.

Free similar alternative: Davinci Resolve Also there is no best software, only some are better in certain things then others.

But I swapped from Premiere Pro to Davinci Resolve after around 6 years of editing in the Adobe suite. It is better in a lot of ways.
