17.10.2014 · Re: VMware to AHV Restore. When you restore Gen2 VM to nutanix, its disks will be connected to Sata interface. Further you will need to power off restored VM (if it was powered on) and change boot type to UEFI in VM parameters in PRISM. After you do so, VM can be properly started and will work.

To re-create the VM with the same configuration you will need to review the virtual machine details gathered with the acli vm.get command, then re-create the configuration on your destination hypervisor.

Honestly you just need to install VMTools so the appropriate drivers are there for storage and networking. The service will fail to start, but you can install it. We move across hypervisors all the time and have no issues. If you have no intention of moving back to AHV then uninstall Nutanix Guest Tools as the virtio drivers aren't useful.
