You are so wrong, have a look on albion 2d meta rating, you will see carving has much more success than claymore. The reason being is that carving can E through players, can be used with 0 stacks and still get full damage, can be used for mobility in any direction without target and it is aoe. The resistance debuff is just a cherry on the top.

The claymore is in one of the worst weapon lines, and in that sense is bad. However claymore is probably the best non-artifact weapon in that line, and is definitely in the top five weapons for small scale PvP. Another thing to consider is that there's no weapon that's singularly good or bad in Albion. It all depends on the situation.

I got into albion a few days ago and I'm going back and forth between weapons, I REALLY liked daggers but they got a nerf and liked the whole hunter tree too but I tried sword and the ones that caught my eye were the galantine pair, claymore and carving sword.

Most sword builds will have little or no CC. The exceptions are with the Claymore and Carving Sword, which can pile on some decent soft cc.
