25.07.2017 · The best axe at the moment is carrioncaller in GvG & Hellgates, but likely will receive nerfs soon. in PvE literally any build is viable so I'd say play what makes you happy. The build you've suggested Greataxe+Assassin's Jacket is very burst damage oriented so you'd need a way to ensure your powerful attack hits such as a party member's.

Best axes are Bearpaws, Halberds, Carrioncaller, Scythes, Greataxe, and 1 handed. The main problem of them is lack of CC's to prevent Cultist Robes for example. So Mercenary jackets are good for DoT builds and cheap, you will have problems with mana so get a cloth shoes or lymhurst cape. Cant go further cause all depends on which type of ...

I use it with Scholar cowl, Stalker jacket, Ava beef stew/Cabbage Soup, and the rest is escape stuff: Soldier boots, FS cape and 1-2 invis pots.
