Amazon is currently having major server outages which are resulting in some Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks reporting that they cannot access the internet. Fire TV devices periodically check to see if they can access the internet by pinging Amazon’s servers.

Yeah that’s what was happening, I’m not using anything other than what you get when you buy the stick, just plugged into the tv and wall with the amazon power brick. I ended up removing my account from the stick to see if that would work but that has actually made things worse (I’ll like a separate post to what’s happening now)
