28.12.2021 · Re: Black screen with DDE on boot It is either earlykms (which is also covered by the key you supposingly added in #4, but still see the 2nd link Zod posted) or the deepin greeter. Since there *is* an active report reg. the latter the minimum effort you could bring up here is to try the behavior of the gtk greeter to make sure that you're not fighting 2 bugs at once.

If the screen turns completely black, the problem is probably prior. As long as you get the grub menu, you can alter the start up to rescue mode (faster than chroot-ing from USB).

I had recently performed full system upgrade and to do so I issued command. sudo pacman -Syu. and after successful installation of update, I rebooted my machine and after reboot I am only seeing black screen and also I am not able to access terminal (if display manager had broken).

But at every boot what I get is Black screen with the cursor (underscore) ... This will generate a config for grub and it should boot up after that.

After attempting to use LightDM, I get a black screen after GRUB. I was trying to read the various logs at /var/log/ but I cannot understand ...

FIXED? I ran updates today and got the new kernel 5.12.1 and now my system is borked. Upon boot i get through grub and then just black.

Tap a cursor key to avoid automatic boot. Select your choice (pe. LInux Mint) with the cursor and then press the [tab] key to get the full boot grub commad line. Don't be afraid: is a long command. Avoid modifying it. Go to the line starting with the word linux and ending with the words: quiet splash.

Arch installation with xfce leads to black screen. I am trying to install arch with xfce desktop environment (trying on VM first). After finishing base setup (base, linux, linux-firmware) and chrooting to /mnt and doing other stuffs (setting up up hosts, time, grub etc.) Installing xorg, xfce4 and xfce4-session.

This isn't an issue itself, but for anyone like myself that has some programs dependent on python packages both in the main Arch repos as well ...
