I actually transitioned away from using Asus routers with PiHole. Since I only had one PiHole, I plugged its IP address into the DNS server field and left the other one blank. However looking at DNS on the client devices it was the IP address of the PiHole and then the IP address of the router.

Whatever you put there (assuming pihole IP) will be the primary DNS delivered to clients va DHCP, while the router's IP will be secondary.
