In most cases, the older backup data is rarely accessed and is only stored for compliance needs. Azure Archive Storage is yet another storage tier available for blob storage. Hot, cool, and archive objects can all exist side by side in the same account. And with the introduction of blob-level tiering, you can change an object’s tier with a single click in the Azure portal, or you can use the REST API (or .NET, Java, Python, and a number of other SDKs) to programmatically change as many objects as needed.

Archive storage provides secure, globally compliant storage for sensitive data. You can also use Archive storage if you have a large amount of data that needs to be preserved. Pricing Blobs are stored for at least 180 days in the archive tier. Deleting or rehydrating archived blobs before the minimum number of days will incur early deletion fees.

Azure Storage Reserved Capacity Azure Storage Reserved Capacity helps you lower your data storage cost by committing to one-year or three-years of Azure Storage. Reserved capacity can be purchased in increments of 100 TB and 1 PB sizes for 1-year and 3-year commitment duration. All prices are per month.
