(Virtual machine ID DAB51914-F9CC-4F3B-BC98-B3333EC1E3B7) So at this point freeing up some space on that source disk and running the merge again as per those articles posted earlier should solve this for you :)

03.05.2011 · Some possibilites: This might be caused by the low disk space on the physical disk. You might want to free up some space so that the merge can take place. If this is caused by a security setting on the vhd files, you could grant full permissions to everyone, and see if you recieve another error. (or hopefully a successful merge)

May 03, 2011 · I then booted and shut down the machine but the same "General Access denied error" came up. This is a HP DL380 G7 server with local disks. These disks hold the virtual machines and disks so there is nothing special about it (e.g. machines running on network shares, ISCSI etc) The volume on which this VM resides has 16GB available disk space.
