Abstract. The volatiles emitted by the ascomycetes Hypoxylon griseobrunneum and Hypoxylon macrocarpum (Hypoxylaceae, Xylariales) were collected by use of a closed-loop stripping apparatus (CLSA) and analysed by GC–MS. The main compound class of both species were polysubstituted benzene derivatives.
