30.01.2015 · StarWind is indeed iSCSI *inside* but it's absolute fine to spawn a set of a failover SMB3 or NFSv4 shares on top of it to store data. Within Hyper-V SMB3 is actually a primary protocol and key selling point for us now and NFS *could* be the same if Microsoft and VMware would agree to certify NFS server built-in into Windows for VMware production use.
