Really anything will work. All you need on that front is your microphone, any laptop (just stay away from netbooks), and Audacity. I enjoyed watching Pat Flynn's free podcast tutorial but there are ton out there. Back to the laptop question: I would just ensure that it has at least 3 USB ports and a convenient mic and headphone jack location.
