We encourage authors to ensure that their datasets are either deposited in publicly available repositories (where available and appropriate) or presented in the main manuscript or additional supporting files whenever possible.

Criteria. Reviews are summaries of recent insights in specific research areas within the scope of BMC Medical Education. Key aims of Reviews are to provide systematic and substantial coverage of a research or clinical area of wide interest or to present a critical assessment of a specified area. A review must focus on recent research and on a topic that is timely and relevant to the field.
