If the icon is there, then RIGHT-click it, slide your mouse to the line that says "Launch Bose Updater webpage" and LEFT-click it. That should open up a new browser window that looks like this: Choose your Sub1/Sub2 from the list of products in the upper right.
There are several reasons why your Bose will not update. The most basic requirement for a system update is sufficient charge. There must be at least 20% battery for the update to be installed, otherwise the update will not install. Since there is no update yet for the mini, the software seems to be stuck and not detecting. I have told them that this is not a convenient way of feedback from software as user may be assuming the software is not working properly.
