Minors are earned through the completion of a minimum of 20 credits, at least 12 of which must be unique to the minor and may not count toward the fulfillment of majors or additional minors. Students must complete an Application for Minor form and have it approved by both the school or college of the minor and the College of Engineering.

This minor has been designed for Boston University students who are not in the College of Engineering but who want a general introduction to the concepts and applications of engineering. A minor in Engineering Science is earned through completion of 20 credits.
A departmental minor consists of six or seven courses. These must include one introductory level course and at least one upper-level course or seminar.
A minor is not required for the BA but is available for students desiring a systematic introduction to a field in addition to the major. A minimum of two courses toward any minor offered by a CAS department or program must be taken in the college; some departments may require more.
