For 127 years, the BTCA has been devoted to the betterment and preservation of America’s breed – the Boston Terrier. The BTCA takes great pride in its accomplishments of encouraging and promoting quality in the breeding of Boston Terriers, doing everything possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection, and preserving the health and temperament of this beloved breed.

The Boston Terrier breed was started by Robert Hooper from Boston Massachusetts in 1870 when he acquired a dog of Bull and Terrier lineage. At this time in history both ancestral breeds were common in various forms but lacked breed recognition due to the undeveloped Registration industry at the time.
