Larry Venis, who began his athletic training career after receiving his bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in sports medicine, joined the Boston University staff in 1994. A native of South Boston, his initial positions were with Parkway Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Inc. and at Dedham High School, where he served as head athletic trainer.

R. Mark Laursen, MS, ATC, was selected as Boston University's Director of Athletic Training Services in June 2008. At that time, he also was named a Clinical Associate Professor of Athletic Training in BU's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

The staff has open office hours for all athletes and covers practices as well as home and away games for men’s rugby, women’s rugby, and men’s ice hockey.
