Budgie 11 will see many changes and it's too early for us to start talking about them. What I can tell you is that we were more interested in Qt5 as a replacement for GTK3 than it's capabilities when it comes Wayland.

When I use wayland on other distributions (on Gnome), everything runs so much smoothly compared to Xorg‘s version of Gnome. I really want Solus to support wayland so badly. Oct 23, 2014 · In the near future it is planned to rewrite Budgie, in a single-process model. To do that would involve a lot of effort, but would /enable/ Wayland compatibility. At the end of the day, Wayland is an enormous pain in the arse for me as it involves a complete rewrite, a totally new architecture, and no actual benefits for Solus.
