Once upon a time there was a distro called Damn Vulnerable Linux that was based on slackware and only available on i486 CPU's and was, well, damn vulnerable. Meant for cybersec students, it was stuffed to the tits with outdated software and bad configs that meant that, out of box, it was the most vulnerable OS on the market, and it looks like a pretty fun way to spend a long weekend.

Oct 23, 2014 · In the near future it is planned to rewrite Budgie, in a single-process model. To do that would involve a lot of effort, but would /enable/ Wayland compatibility. At the end of the day, Wayland is an enormous pain in the arse for me as it involves a complete rewrite, a totally new architecture, and no actual benefits for Solus.

When I use wayland on other distributions (on Gnome), everything runs so much smoothly compared to Xorg‘s version of Gnome. I really want Solus to support wayland so badly. It would be my perfect distro. I know Budgie is NOT Gnome but Budgie (currently) depends on Gnome assets (e.g. GTK theming, Nautilus, Gnome Settings, etc.)

Budgie 11 will see many changes and it's too early for us to start talking about them. What I can tell you is that we were more interested in Qt5 as a replacement for GTK3 than it's capabilities when it comes Wayland.

Linuxllc. · 11m. I know Wayland is moving along. But I still say Wayland can't stand on it's own two feet yet. That is just my opinion. If you like Wayland so much, why not switch to ones that honor Wayland from the get go. Not many out there, but they're a few though. I guess I'm just still old school.
