It maybe true for normal devices, but it's not true for rooted devices, I moved termux files folder to external sd (adopted as internal) and were able to execute binaries in usr/bin like gpg and login.. So I think termux should be able to install its bootstrap packages.

Reinstalled via Play store, still won't update. Downloaded F-Droid per someone else's advice that fixed their OP's problem, but F-Droid won't install apps that were previously installed by Google Play. I can't find any solutions for either problems. F-Droid fix for pre-installed apps nor Repo updates via Play Store install.
