When I ran the veeam backup the job failed at creating the checkpoint. I manually ran a production checkpoint on the hyper v manager with standard checkpoint option off.

27.04.2016 · I just want to add that I fixed this issue with a brand new setup with Hyper-V 2019 and Veeam 10. The issue I was having was that the backup and checkpoint would get to 7% or 50% and freeze. The backup job froze, then VM guests froze. I was not able to gracefully shut down the VM guests. When I tried to reboot the Hyper-V host, it froze.

30.07.2019 · Even after removing my backup software I still cannot create a production checkpoint, I get the same error, on the host that works just fine, I never did the production checkpoint / subtree delete. The production checkpoint / subtree delete seems to be what causes the issue, after testing on test VMs.
18.09.2018 · "Create standard checkpoints if it's not possible to create a production checkpoint" underneath the "Production checkpoints" is checked and I am able to create checkpoint manually from Hyper-V (RMB on Linux Machine -> Create Checkpoint). I think the case is with veeam configuration because when I turn off Guest OS, backup is creating successfully.

Now we change the checkpoint from production to standard. The production checkpoint uses a backup technology inside the guest to create the checkpoint.
Ensure there is enough disk space to create checkpoints. Please check if there are any checkpoint schedule running on the VM, if yes, try to remove the checkpoint and check if it could work. Please check if there is other error ids related to Hyper-V. Can you create the checkpoints using powershell?
