Mar 01, 2016 · If you're not actually interested in learning KVM and just serving production VMs, don't use Proxmox because eventually something will break and you'll have to dig into the command line to fix it. If you want to "cluster" properly (serving across multiple physical boxes with some sort of load-balancing) the free ESXi isn't a great option.

All my experience is with ESXi but that's pretty much out of the question because of the licensing costs. Hyper-V is out because it does not support USB passthrough of bootable USB devices. So does that leave me only with Proxmox?
