Russian and Czech grammar are very similar and one is not greatly easier or more difficult than the other. The same with vocabulary. I never felt that Czech had more cognates than Russian. I just got the feeling that Czech had a few more irregularities. Czech is easier to pronounce once you get the hang of -ř.
