The D&M Drive, 1962x and Dark Side are good examples. As a straight-up alternative to the Klon, I preferred other pedals on this list, particularly the Tumnus. But the Oxblood has its own thing going on and still sounds magnificent. If you’re after a transparent overdrive with more flexibility – you should definitely check out the Oxblood.

23.01.2018 · I have the D&M Drive on my small board. It's a great unit; I love the sounds I get out of it. The one caveat is that the Dan side is hella bright: I keep the tone control at around 10:30 otherwise it gets shrill.

Jul 04, 2020 · The Klon thing in particular comes from what Keeley themselves say about the D&M Drive: “The ‘Boost’ side spans Mick’s love for high-voltage, high-headroom mid boosters and a germanium – modded professional overdrive .”

... Keeley and confirmed that the Drive side has its origins in the OCD with several modification and the Boost side is rooted in the Klon.

Dec 19, 2021 · Tumnus and archer are both variations of the Klon circuit. Archer is closer to the original Klon, i.e. relatively transparent, but adds midrange emphasis to your tone. Tumnus characteristically has more bass than the traditional Klon style overdrive. D&M drive is a dual pedal with separate boost and overdrive sides, so arguably the most versatile.
