Each DFS namespace can have multiple namespace servers assigned. That is how redundancy works. The namespace servers can be the domain controllers, or dedicated DFS servers. The namespace servers are just used for the client's initial lookup, they don't take part in the actual data transfer so they have very low resource requirements.
