You need to download the ESXi Offline Bundle for that.
You can update ESXi to the latest build from an online bundle. This method caters to users with a free ESXi license who can't access the offline bundles. NOTE: Patches are cumulative. The latest build includes all of the patches up to that point. As with any update, make sure to back up any important work.
I want to upgrade a HP Gen8 Microserver from ESXi 6.0 to 6.5 U2. I tried several attempts at booting from a (bootable!) usb stick with the iso files on it and it just won't boot from it. Upgrading ESXi using an offline bundle I’m basically going to repeat the same steps as above except that this time, using the install option instead of update to upgrade ESXi. Using the offline bundle works similar in the way of the command line but saves you from having to download the upgrade bits for each VMware ESXi host. Great when you have more than just a couple hosts or limited bandwidth.
