I never went through the fast.ai courses or api, but i will share my experience. If you want to dive deeper into deep learning, it’s a very long dive, Andrew Ng’s course on coursera is definitely one of the best references, he gives a very clear intuitional and mathematical introduction to the topic alongside with the basic fundamental coding practices ( array operations )

I personally suggest to take deeplearning.ai's specialization along with it as well. fast.ai teaches using a top-down approach, which will force you to do things by hand, practically, which is of great value..
