Fedora vs Debian I've been using Fedora for last couple of years and lately I've been thinking of going back to Debian (last one I used was Squeezy) because I can't stand DNF anymore. I like that Fedora is shopping frequent updates and fresh packages and is fairly stable.

Fedora stays more current, thanks to their more frequent release cycle. Of course that also means you "have to" update about twice a year. Debian stable with backports for some more current hardware is a hard to beat OS, IMHO. Debian stable has, to me, however 1 big drawback and that is outdated DE's.

You can always use Debian unstable to keep more up to date, but even unstable is often a year behind Fedora. Look at my systemd link. It was in Fedora in 2010, default in 2011 vs. in Debian unstable in 2012 and default in 2015. So even with unstable you can wait a year to years embracing what Fedora is making default today.

Between the two, Fedora, generally has more current packages, and fairly new kernels without having to compile one yourself or setup one of the Zen kernels available. Fedora’s package manager “dnf” I feel is stronger than Debian, On account of its transaction database and ability to roll back whole transactions if necessary.
