When comparing DPKG (Debian Package Manager) vs Flatpak, the Slant community recommends DPKG (Debian Package Manager) for most people.

So basically flatpak sounds like the better choice to install... System - deb (quality& stability), user space apps - flatpak (latest features&bugfixes). flatpaks get updated faster than repo apps on Ubuntu-based distros. I use .debs from the repos, and flatpaks if they aren't otherwise available.
