Why you shouldn't be using Google DNS, instead you should be using almost any other DNS. I don't get why people use 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) Instead of any another DNS service. E.g. Cloudflare's DNS: 1.1.1.1. Pi-hole is meant to block ads, trackers, malware, etc. This helps protect your overall privacy while surfing the web.

I was using dns since year for adblock but it is making net very slow from last few days .. in speed test , speed is showing around 50mbps but in reddit , and other apps , even images couldn't load . When checked without adguard dns , everything loads really fast . So it might have some issue with adguard dns .

What are the opinions here on using google vs cloudflare for DNS? Anyone notice issues with one over the other?

We turned it up in 2016, predating Cloudflare by several years. You've just heard of Cloudflare because they throw a ton of money at selling it, whereas we're an open project, and don't do any marketing. We have a somewhat larger server footprint that Cloudflare, about three times the size of Google, and four times the size of Cisco/OpenDNS.

Food for thought - here's the BGP peering information for Cloudflare, and here's the BGP peering information for Google 15169 36040 + Google Fiber.Based on the public peering exchange points just looking at Cloudflare vs Google AS15169 - not 36040 or Fiber, Google has fewer but on average much fatter connections to the world (looking at those twin 500G pipes to IX BR Sao Paulo, whoa mama).

I am sure Google is also, They use Multicast DNS so it would be nye on impossible to take 8.8.8.8 offline for everyone. Google and Cloudflare both use anycast to provide fault tolerant and distributed DNS infrastructure not multicast. Anycast and multicast are two different methods of transmission & reception. Hey!
