May 22, 2020 · The Village of Ruidoso in coordination with High Mountain Concessions will begin offering boat rentals, fishing equipment, and snacks at Grindstone Lake beginning on Friday, May 22, 2020, through Labor Day. Concessions will be open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This lake is the municipal water supply for Ruidoso, NM. The current state of affairs for this reservoir has the water down very low due to two soft spots in the roller compacted dam. The state ordered the village to keep the water down to at least 16 feet BELOW the spillway due to leakage problems.
