Restart home assistant. Start DuckDNS -- it should fix the cert now. Remove the http node from the config again. Restart HA. Enable nginx again. At this point my setup was fixed and I was able to access locally over http and remotely over https as before. The cert from Let's Encrypt finally has a new expiry date.

06.07.2021 · I assume this was because of the DuckDNS outage and it somehow happened while trying to renew the certificate, however, it’s entirely possible that the two events were unrelated. I was able to fix the issue by restoring the certs from a backup and then reinstalling the DuckDNS addon, after that it was able to re-new the certificates successfully now that DuckDNS is back …

When trying to use the duckdns domain the GUI tells me “Unable to connect to Home Assistant.”. This is presumably caused by the invalid SSL certificate as I can circumvent this message on an unprimed browser.

Go to the configuration tab of DuckDNS add-on and: Change the accept_terms to true. By changing it, you agree to use Let’s Encrypt auto renewal SSL certificate feature. And that is really good.

I can use HA using hassio.local but of course only on local desktop and not on mobile, tablet, or remote.
The problem. I'm using the Duck DNS addon for SSL and my certificate has expired. The addon is not updating the certificate. The addon thinks that the certificate is still valid and does not renew it. I have tried reinstalling the addon and deleting the local data to force it to renew, but the cert from Let's Encrypt still has the expired date.

The addon seems to renew the certificate (saw it in a log that the certificate were valid until 2019), but it’s still seen as expired (with always the same old date - October 5 -) by the browsers. I tried to remove/reinstall the addon, remove the fullchain ...
