18.03.2013 · hyper-v manager doesn't list snapshots for a guest. however, the guest is clearly running on the snapshots (avhd files), and the vhds are still there; if i move the vhds, it complains that it's missing them when trying to start the guest.
Apr 28, 2021 · Hyper-V manager does not show any open snapshots. I believe the only open snapshots are temporary and occur during the backup job. It seems snapshots are being created during the backup process and offloaded to cloud storage on Backblaze and each time a .avhdx file is left behind. I also ran Get-VMSnapshot in powershell, still no snapshots shown.

Jul 04, 2019 · Also by looking at your screenshot of the VHDX that you've inspected, it doesn't appear to have any association to any of the AVHDX files, also if the Get-VMSnapshot returns nothing, and the Hyper-V Manager reports that no checkpoints are available for your virtual machine, it should be safe to simply delete them.

Oct 08, 2014 · The merge failed and we had one vhdx and one larger avhdx. I just changed the Snapshot location to another drive with plenty of space and it continued to merge (started around 60-70% or so) and was done in a couple of minutes. No files created in the new snapshot location, just one large avhdx-file gone!
