Running Hyper-V on windows 10 pro 1607 build 14393 and whenever i try to create a virtual machine, it says "machinename" failed to realize.

The "problem" came when we realized Storage Spaces is a thing and is probably overall better than DFS but as far as I'm able to understand to work properly SS has to have access to physical disks which would ofc not be our situation as Hyper V Server is in the way and the one providing the Disks to the OS (not counting the Hardware RAID of HP on the bare metal).

06.04.2019 · If you delete the folder used for VHD and configuration files, can't be deleted, you should create a new one, and configure it in the Hyper-V settings from the Hyper-V Manager. It's glad to hear the issue has already been resolved.

You have the VHDX, so delete the VM (but NOT the VHDX!!), then recreate the VM pointing to the VHDX. you will need to respcify the VM hardware but that should not take long.
