I think to put proxmox OS on single SSD (good consumer ssd) and to maintain raid for VM. ssd contain template iso or other.
What would you recommend? Install Proxmox to a dedicated OS disk only (120 gb ssd. Hdd space wasting as the OS only take a couple of gb) or setup a ZFS pool with all available disks during installation and install the OS to that pool? I have …

As you can see all the disks Proxmox detects are now shown and we want to select the SSDs of which we want to create a mirror and install Proxmox onto. Set all the others to “– do not use –“. 06.08.2021 · Add The Drive As Storage In Proxmox 7. Navigate to your web interface and select the node, then Storage menu. Fill in all the fields, changing YOURID to anything you want and /mnt/YOURDIRECTORY to whatever you used in previous steps. If you want to use this drive as backup storage for your node, ensure VZDump is selected as Content.
This provides drive redundancy if one of the drives fails. This same level of redundancy can also be achieved using a software-based RAID array, such as ZFS.
The biggest caveat (and I think this goes for all proxmox single-disk installs) is that the proxmox installer will always wipe the boot disk(s). So if you find yourself needing to reinstall at some point, it's up to you to have some way of copying your VM data off the disk before reinstalling.
