11.12.2020 · Angel Fire Resort offers New Mexico’s only night skiing & snowboarding on the front side of our mountain on weekends and holidays from shortly after 5 PM. We close the mountain briefly from approximately 4 – 5 PM to allow time for our mountain crew to do a Ski Patrol sweep and a courtesy groom.

Don't get me wrong, Taos is fun skiing for those who know what they are doing but Angel Fire is best for those who have never skied at all. Red River is alright for beginners but does not have as many or as long or as wide runs for beginners. Angel Fire also has snow boarding and tubing if your teens are interested.
Angel Fire is probably the second best ski resort in New Mexico after Taos. They have a very wide variety of terrain, long runs, some challenging terrain, pleasant staff, decent views and great snow. Mid-week skiing is amazing. The biggest con is that nearly every skier is from Texas, Oklahoma (aka Texas Part II), or Louisiana.

Beginner skiers in this situation fear getting hit by skiers, falling into the mountain and getting hit, or skiing off the trail.
