Put simply, Reddit is an enormous message board composed of (literally) millions of smaller message boards that cover any topic you can imagine — from TV shows, sports teams, and movies to dogs, .gifs, and politics. On these specialty boards, which are called “subreddits,” content rallies around the theme.

There are really enriching elements there for creativity and meeting people/breaking down barriers by interacting with people you wouldn't normally interact with. The failure is in the monetization/predatory algorithms and incentivizing the toxic aspects that hurt people. Instagram doesn't have to be all influencers.
