I like and prefer LMDE, I'd however still use Linux Mint. I'd have to tinker around to get things working on LMDE, which itself defeats the purpose of installing Linux Mint. I get it, LMDE is backup so the team doesn't focus as much on it. I like the idea of using Debian stable with backports and non-free out of the box.
