How to train LSTM with GPU - PyTorch Forums

18.12.2018 · Everything works fine, but nonetheless my code is not running on the GPU. I have debugged my code with PyCharm, and everything seems to be on the GPU: the input sequences, the LSTM output, the final autoencoder output, etc…, and in fact I can see the data uploaded to the GPU memory, but still, the whole training procedure takes place on the CPU.

Like @pcko1 said, LSTM is assisted by GPU if you have tensorflow-gpu installed, but it does not necessarily run faster on a GPU. In my case, it actually slowed it down by ~2x, because the LSTM is relatively small and the amount of copying between CPU and GPU made the training slower. I think with a larger network, it would speed things up.
