Hi r/ManjaroLinux. Recently I've installed Manjaro KDE on my 2010 MacBook Pro and it works like a charm. Especially backlight and volume buttons. But then I installed i3 wm on the same system and after log in spotted that volume and backlight keys do not work.

Play with manjaro i3 in virtual box as someone else suggested. You'll have one month to get used to it - i3 config, notifications, dmenu/rofi, bar and status line etc. Would be unpleasant experience for someone used to mouse, icons and windows with controls to jump directly.

I use Manjaro with i3, and have previously used the i3 edition (and my i3 config still uses bits that came with i3 edition of Manjaro).

I don't believe it's an accurate reading for CPU temp. Cpu is at 18%. Love it, I'm running Manjaro/i3 as well! I bought a Thinkpad X200t to be my laptop for only writing, but since it's my only linux machine other than my Raspberry Pi, I use it more than anything else now ^_^.

Manjaro i3 is the first serious Linux distro I used (previously using an obscure Ubuntu derivative) and was what convinced me to use Arch (btw) and stick with i3 as my environment. Thanks to Manjaro i3, I'll never be able to settle for a normal desktop environment again lol.

I have been using Manjaro Gnome for a long time, have a lot of my stuff and apps there, but I decided I want to try I3. Since I'm not a fan of doing complete reinstall, I just wanted to install I3 alongside Gnome. So I made clean Manjaro Gnome install on VirtualBox to try it out, installed only 3 packets - yay, mc, tree - and installed I3 using:
