Oh well, I wonder how i missed those settings. I used mhwd to remove the free driver and installed the non-free driver. But then after selecting the nvidia gpu (hybrid grpahics), laptop won't boot past the Manjaro splash screen. So I figured a reinstall with non-free drivers was the best option and did that. Thanks for your help!
