Oh well, I wonder how i missed those settings. I used mhwd to remove the free driver and installed the non-free driver. But then after selecting the nvidia gpu (hybrid grpahics), laptop won't boot past the Manjaro splash screen. So I figured a reinstall with non-free drivers was the best option and did that. Thanks for your help!

If i use non free drivers the system doesn't even boot, I've already searched similar topic and tryed to add acpi_osi=! acpi_osi='Windows 2009' in the grub parameters but obviously it didn't work and the outcome …
Where installing the full version of Manjaro (i.e. complete with a pre-installed desktop environment, codecs, and software applications), the mhwd command will be automatically run by the GUI and CLI installer to automatically detect your graphics card and install the most appropriate driver for it.
