By definition, Manjaro is unstable. They also have pulled a ton of amateur-hour mistakes and I don't trust them anywhere near my system. I have no idea why it's as popular as it is. Pop!_OS is more stable because it's based on Ubuntu which is released every 6 months.

But the installation ended always with package download errors. Don’t know if it were always the same packages that failed during my various install attempts.

30.10.2018 · I did this too, and now (as @linux-aarhus predicted) my KDE/SDDM does not start when rebooting. Gonna downgrade what I updated and reinstall what I removed to see if that fixes it. EDIT: That did not work.
