Oct 03, 2020 · Manjaro 20 Gnome has been running great for a month on my AMD 64-bit desktop until an update 2 days ago. Now it boots to a black screen. I found a temporary solution and have to hold down Ctrl + Alt + F2 to get to a tty2. Than I log in and type startx. That brings up the gui. Before the update Manjaro would boot right to the desktop gui.

Black screen. You may get a black screen after logging into the session manager if your ~/.xinitrc has --exit-with-session set in the dbus_args. Try copying ~/.xinitrc to ~/.xrdpinitrc, removing --exit-with-session, and updating /etc/xrdp/startwm.sh to call ~/.xrdpinitrc instead of ~/.xinitrc.

25.01.2015 · I choose sesman-Xvnc and type in my password and a plain black screen is all I get. Sometimes I'll get a message that says "Oh no Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. All extensions have been disabled as a precaution." It also gives me a log out button. I have installed xrdp from the AUR via yaourt.

I hadn't tried remote access from my Windows boxes to my Fedora 25 xrdp servers for about 4-5 months. It worked fine then.

Recently, I repurposed an old desktop machine to be a headless server for running machine learning and ArchiveTeam stuff. In its former life it ran Manjaro alongside Windows 10, so I figured I might as well stick with Manjaro in its new role.

If you still can not start up your WM, xrdp because it is configured to start the xterm, might help to solve the problem and should also put xterm.
