I tried OwnCloud, Nextcloud, and other before finding Seafile a few years ago. Sure, development of all the services has surely changed, so take my input with a grain of salt, but I had a ton of issues with both OwnCloud and Nextcloud. I’ve literally ZERO issues with Seafile from the drop. It’s rock solid, fast, and easy to use. I love it.

Nextcloud and Linux are definitely the way to go. Nextcloud was forked from owncloud by the original creator because he got fed up by investor bullshit. Nextcloud has more (free) features, better/larger community, better organization, the original creator (s). Nextcloud Server does not support Microsoft Windows.
