Not sure if anyone else has run into this. I'm running the proxy container on VM inside corporate network and when I try and create the proxy in Nginx Proxy Manager, I too get the 'Internal Error' and in the log I can see that lets encrypt can't validate my domain. Under SSL Certificates there is an entry but its immediately expired.
02.12.2021 · use nginx proxy manager to get your domain connected. Go to Home Assistant > Supervisor > Add-on Store > Install nginx Proxy Manager. Then, on the nginx Proxy Manager Configuration tab fill in the information as shown below. Wait some minutes after you start the nginx add-on. Read the Log tab nearby and hope for only happy messages there.
23.07.2019 · Now add the domain in NGinx Proxy Manager, set the scheme to http, forward hostname/ip to 192.168.x.x (this should be the IP of your Hassio) and port to 8123 The domain should now be accessible without https (this is why you had port 80 mapped to Hassio)

Feb 10, 2020 · Make sure you route the external traffic from port 80 and 443 to the IP of your home-assistant and to the ports: 80 and 443. The Nginx proxy manager add-on will be running on the ports 443 and 80. In the Nginx proxy manager, you are able to set up a redirect to your home assistant IP with the port 8123.

Another common issue is that the communication between the NGINX proxy manager and the target can’t be established because the protocol version is incorrect.

When i try to create a lets encrypt cert for one of my proxy hosts it throws an "internal error" message. My setup: Domain purchased from godaddy eg - mydomain.co.uk. Go daddy name servers pointing to Cloudflare.
