I've successfully setup PiHole DNS behind a reverse proxy by way of NGINX. I am using Heimdall as an interface for NGINX, pointing to all the various applications on my local LAN of which PiHole is one. It works as far as logging in and navigating through the PiHole interface.

On nginx proxy manager i've associated every CNAME record created on pihole to the LAN ip of the containers. Theoretically if i go to gitlab.domain.com it should make pihole resolve to the local ip of the nginx proxy manager and then the proxy should resolve to the local ip of the container.
