07.12.2021 · I'm ready to upgrade to OpenWrt 19.07.1. I usually purchase a new(er) router when I upgrade so that if something goes wrong I can quickly fall back to something I know works. I been reading about the NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 (R8000-100NAS) and their seems to be some mixed reviews. Some comments even recommend staying with the R7800.

Which one of the two would make a better OpenWrt router only of the two (i.e. Netgear X6 R8000 vs Linksys WRT3200ACM, no wireless)?

I'm running OpenWRT on my R8000. The biggest hurdle is getting past Netgear's attempt to stop you from installing "older" firmware.

22.08.2014 · The R8000 works brilliantly with teh DD-WRT firmware. My only critisism is that the WPS funtion doesn't seem to work in the first release. Hopefully this will come in future. As a word of warning the hidemyass configuration script for open VPN doesn't work.
