Along NM State Route 475, near Santa Fe Ski Area, the area is well signed, but not regularly groomed. Snowshoeing is discouraged on the trail to preserve Nordic ski tracks.

The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking in the summer, and cross country skiing in the winter. This is the one trail in the area designated for cross country skiing only. Kathy Kubarski has reported on the condition of this trail as well as a way to get there from Albuquerque using the RailRunner to Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Ski Area shuttle to the trailhead. So this trail is starting to look like an excellent option from Albuquerque.
