21.10.2014 · OpenGL is in a sorry state in this regard. Unfortunately, the userspace library depends heavily on the drivers. Nix applications get compiled against the generic mesa library. However at runtime, it depends on your driver. In other words, it's hard to make OpenGL applications work correctly outside of NixOS.

Crossing this milestone happens with the Linux 2.6.39 kernel, which has not even had its first release candidate yet with the Linux 2.6.38 kernel being released just one week ago.
